Default Identification, please...

Could I please ask your assistance in identifying the attached badges. If not the "unit", perhaps the county/city/town that the coat of arms on the badge represents in the first four cases?

For size information, if it helps, each picture is approximately 52mm wide x 55mm high.

Badges 1, 2, 5 and 8 are on EW Lugs; Badges 3, 4 and 7 are on sliders; badge 6 is on bendy tabs. All have nice age/patina to them...

Badge 5 is a City of London Collar but I can find no reference to the motto "Thorough".

Badge 8 is the Arms of Ilford. Ilford had at least three VTC units, but I can find no records of how they were badged.

Thanks in anticipation,

Tim

2. City of Birmingham.
3. Norfolk Joint Police. Should be chrome with two loops, an epaulette badge.
4. London County Council. Should be enamelled with either loops or a slider.

They all look like unfinished factory rejects which have had loops & sliders added later.

Dave.

Thanks, Dave.

Appreciate the identification.

Not sure they're factory rejects. though; the Birmingham badge has very poor definition, and not a great finish, but the rest are all good clean strikes.

Thanks again, Tim

The first shield is the Southall borough council arms, granted in 1936.
