Default A Real Treat For Royal Lancers Enthusiasts !

Whilst involved in the Army's Cadet Forces Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), camp in Grantham this week, I had the opportunity to call in and see a friend who works as the Assistant Regimental Secretary at Home Headquarters of the Royal Lancers.
I had the opportunity to have a look at some of the stuff in the "reserve collection" - mind blowing doesn't even come close to describing it .

Whilst I was there I noticed a glazed case containing some unusual Royal Lancers badges. My friend (who is also a medal collector so understands the importance of original documentation) has had the foresight to retain all the trial pattern badges that were being considered when the Royal Lancers were formed (he also kept all the accompanying documentation from the manufacturers/suppliers). Some real odd ball items (one or two of which went into production and some even went into wear (for instance some of the early pattern collar badges had the incorrect pattern of crown)...anyhow enjoy. Sorry about the reflection, the pictures were taken on my phone

Very interesting. But I cannot help it, that I find many quite aesthetically lacking, with a cheap motorcycle gang tawdriness to them
