Is it known who was the creator of these variations? Regards, Paul.

Could be a case of design evolution of the original pattern? Regards, Paul.

Interesting little “off topic” thread. A couple of months ago I was trying to figure what all the plants were that were growing in my lawn under the bird feeders. My Son arrived and pointed his Cell ‘phone at one of the leaves, immediately it came back with “Common Sunflower”. The APP on the phone is called “Picture This” I do not know if you can get that in the UK but certainly a fascinating feature. I have it on my phone now. Well worth a shot at downloading it! D.J.

Hmmmm - I was expecting you to say cannabis rather than sunflowers.

Hi Leigh, no Cannabis around my place, don’t believe in the use of it or any of it’s derivatives. The blue Jays, grackles, cardinals and two types of woodpeckers along with doves and other assorted birds that visit my feeders all agree with me too! We were only just having a chirp about that this morning.

Cannabis seed's often found as a component of bird feeds, it has been known to appear growing in gardens to people's surprise because of spillage or bird distribution from feeders.
In the UK it isn't against the law to possess cannabis seed (unless the law's changed without my being consulted or notified) but it is to cultivate the plants, so if they start growing under your bird table here don't even give them a drop of water...... I think the most exotic bird spread seed I've had grow is linseed and quinoa, plus walnuts and hazels thanks to the squirrels. We get two types of woodpecker here, along with wrens, pheasants, various owls, tits and finches and the occasional buzzard, but the main presence apart from wood pigeons is Red Kite. |

Leigh, very interesting! Squirrels abound here too, (too many of them!) you mention Buzzards, we have “Turkey Vutures” here which often soar on the updrafts over my house. When having a drink with a buddy on my front deck, he’ll look up and say, “Do they know something about you that you haven’t told me Dave?”
