Correct order for mounting medals please
I am about to get round to a very long overdue job: Correctly mounting my father's medals. I have up to now left them the way he boppled them together with carpet twine, but they deserve better.
Please will somebody confirm the correct order they should be in. Right now they are roughly sewn on to a medal bar in the under noted order. `1939-45 Star Atlantic star Africa star Italy Star Defence Medal 1939-45 Victory Medal 1937 Coronation Medal RN & RM Long Service & G.C. Medal Many thanks. johnG

Many thanks Fez. I thought it probably was right, but the medals had been sewn on in such a haphazard fashion with real rough stitching I simply had to check, and I am much obliged to you.
I will now go ahead with the re-mounting of them, with new ribbons on a new bar, but will cut through the old ribbons at the back, just to keep the original ribbons as they are, thrown together many years ago.. Kind regards, John

As a matter of interest,it appears that every now and again the London Gazette produces a list showing the order of precendence for the wearing of medals.
The only hard copy one I have is dated 27th October 1983 but it may be possible to find these on line on the London Gazette web site. P.B.
