Default WW1 period West Riding Specials

Group postcard photo of West Riding Specials section with regular sergeant. Note the immediate response vehicles to the left and right!
Armbands worn are all plain with just the wording 'Special Constable' on them and worn on the left upper arm. Except for the chap wearing the section leader type badge on the right of the sergeant who is sporting a regular police armband worn on the lower left arm. Perhaps wearing this armband was a way to clearly identify his higher rank.

This photo has just arrived today. Seems to be linked to the above photo as the chap in the bowler hat (close up) features in both. I wonder if it was taken at their work place as none are wearing armbands, and there is a chap wearing white footwear.

Billy,

many thanks for showing this hard to find photo. The lapel badge being worn i believe to be as below. Badge is 50 mm high with horseshoe bracket to the badge for putting in the button hole.
Thanks again for sharing,

kind regards, Dave

You're welcome Dave. If you in the front row on each photo you'll see a gent on each wearing section leader type badges.
