Help required finding Prisoner-Of-War
I'm researching a prisoner-of-war but i'm getting nowhere and taught that someone out there is more successful than i am. I probably have his sons medals (since i collect medals too) and therefore trying to join the dots. I've tried using Comite International Geneve web-site; https://grandeguerre.icrc.org but again no luck.
Would appreciate if anyone could guide me as to where I could search further, or any other help that may be. Name; Spiridione Rapinett (Fireman). Ship torpedoed sometime around end September early October as he was reported as POW on 8th October 1917 in Brandenburg Germany. He was picked up at sea by a German ship and imprisoned with a fellow seaman. Thank you all in advance. Vincent |

The medals of the man I have, Francis served in the Royal Malta Artillery in WWII and his father's name was Spiridione and his grand-father was also Francis. Spiridione's 1930 passport confirms all this. It also states that he was a Fireman. So the dots do join up! My question is, is Spiridione named in the article the same person? If so where could I obtain more details about his imprisonment? Been scratching my head over this for so long and so I'm going bald!! Thanks for you help. Vincent |

Slight correction, Francis initially enlisted in the KOMR before transferring to the Royal Navy then to the RMA where he ended his military career.

Leigh that's the man! Francis initially attested with the King's Own Malta Regiment (#42501), then Royal Navy (#E/LX 667258) ending with the Royal Malta Artillery (#11923).
Much appreciated Leigh. |
