Default US badges

Good day Laurent,

First one with the blue shield and white bayonet/border is for the US Infantry School. So, combined with the crossed muskets of the Infantry Branch, I would say it comes from the Infantry School.

The second has the castle of the US Engineer Branch. Have no idea what the white "I" represents, so all I can say is it is Engineer related.

Sorry, I can offer no idea on the third.

Regards,

Ian

The third patch is based on the 1st Infantry Division Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI). The DUI would be worn by members of the Division's Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC).

I don't know why a patch would be made. Maybe an unofficial souvenir patch?

Cheers,
Dan.

Depending on their size, the oval shaped patches could be backing ovals worn behind metal jump wings on dress uniforms. The Infantry School patch certainly looks the same as the oval used before the 507th Airborne Infantry became the Jump School unit.

Default US patches

1st one is a parachute oval for Infantry School. Worn on the chest behind the wings.
2nd is Engineer Intelligence. Quite rare.
3rd is a 1st Division pocket patch for HQ. Lots of sub units wear pocket patches.
