Small Red Hand Badge
Hello,
This small, about and inch tall, red hand came with some military badges but I don't know if it's military related or not. Any ideas? Thanks Paul |

The red hand would normally be associated with the Irish province of Ulster. I believe the right hand is the more commonly seen symbol, though the left hand (as with your example) is also seen. A device used also by the UVF (Ulster Volunteer Force), of course. Regards, JT |

Apologies, but having very little knowledge of this badge, I am unable to put a date to yours. Just wondering if there might be other forum threads relating to the Red Hand? JT |

36th Ulster Division Cap Badge and Collars
Hi here is the link to a site with photos of the 36th Ulster Division Cap Badge and Collars, unfortunately not like what you have as in your badge the sleeve is discernable, whereas on the Dixie it is 3 Tassles, and makers mark to rear, hope this helps all the best billy

Hi Billy,
Thanks mate. The back of the collars in your link are similar in construction to mine so maybe it's a collar? Just a guess. Paul |

Irish Citizen's Army badge, I believe. They were a trade union defense force unit. Nice badge, the bottom is what makes me believe that it belong to them.

Paul,
Formed 1913. They did not take part in the First World War but a number of them did take part in the rising of 1916. There have been copies made of the badge time and time again. I think that your one might be a collar because of it's size! They were any boss and anti-establishment! Regards, Dave |
