Default Forage cap - help

Hi All,

I've just been given a forage cap by a friend who told me that he thought it had been his father's when he was in the home guard.

It appears to have been really well used but my question is this - should it not have had a cap badge of some type? There aren't any holes so I don't think it's ever had one, was this usual?

Thanks a lot,

Michael

Strictly speaking it is a Universal Pattern Field Service Cap.

It appears to have an imprint on the front left from a badge, and if issued it should have had a badge. Perhaps it was on a slider put on/into the fold?

Thanks Jerry,

I will have another look tonight for those marks and you can see from the staining it has definitely been worn a lot.

The only thing I did see was it has general service buttons on.
