6th Gurkhas
An interesting badge this - but at best a curio and possibly a prototype never worn but more likely a fantasy badge. It's a finely cast white metal badge to the 6th Gurkhas but with a Kings crown. There is no other 6GR badge that I know of with a Kings Crown - the first badges with a Queens Crown appear in 1960 a year after the Regt was made "Queen Elizabeth's Own". So a complete fantasy or a trial pattern never issued or approved. I did another post some years ago on a similar badge albeit in brass with a scroll underneath saying "Queen Elizabeth's Own" but still with a Kings Crown. - I held out a hope that it was a trial badge but I'm now leaning towards a fantasy badge made by the "tourist shield" makers.

I'm inclined to agree that is a fantasy item (albeit well made) for collectors. look like thy have taken a 9th badge, then turned the '9' upside down. Steve |
