Welcome to the forum.

Very interesting to hear of your time at the Barracks, I have heard previously of the reputataion of that particular RSM.

Thank you also for sharing the details of the process that you had for polishing your badges, also very interesting.

I'd be more than happy to hear any more of your time in Gosport and especially interested in seeing any photos that you may have of your time there.

My Grandfather served at the barracks from 1934 to 1936 with 1st Bn RB upon their return from India / The Sudan before they moved to Tidworth to train in the Motor Bn role.

He went back to the Barracks as a civvy when he left the army in 1961 working as the officer's mess bar steward until they decided he was too old at the age of 70 in 1977. I was always in and out of the barracks as a kid and the highlight of the year was the annual army tattoo.

Yes it is all housing now but apart from the new build sections it retains much of its original character and it is good to see it preserved.
