Default 25th battalion G and S Co

Hi
This badge is of a heavy thick construction with overlay with rivets.
The front seems to have a bright copper finish.
No indication it has been interfered with although it may have been relugged ,not sure about this.
My question anyone seen this finish or how it has got to look like this?
The other officer badges/senior ncos badges have a gilt overlay on brown maple leaf?

From the image, this badge appears to be a collar?
Question re overlays on the 25th badges. I have a badge with a white metal overlay.

This badge is either the Officer's or NCO's version which is clearly identified here: http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/can...ce/cef_e25.htm
It has seen some wear in its lifetime as the gilt is worn off of the overlay and the leaf has lost its finish as well. Rare badge.

Thanks. Tend to forget to check our own refs at times.

Sure doesn't look like a "worn out" badge to me. Can't think of how you could remove all of the gilding so evenly. Just sayin is all.

Got to agree with Don, does not appear worn out, the bright copper finish is on the overlay and under it and on maple leaf? The overlay has not been removed, the rivets have not been tampered with.
Anyone seen one like this.

Hi Dan,

A badge with a similar underlying metal just went through eBay, pic attached. This one shows evidence of a gilt coating but is in rough shape. I wonder if yours was professionally "cleaned up" at some point? A proud owner may have thought the badge looked unpresentable in a condition similar to the pic below...?

Cheers, Ian.
