Default Royal Durban Light Infantry

Hello South African members,
Here is a recent acquisition. I presume the silver brooch and banner was for a regimental reunion.
What does C.A.W.A. stand for? Also, what vintage is the badge?
Thanks,
John

Hi Tinto
The badge was used 1919-1964, no idea what CAWA was.
Cheers,
Alex

As the DLI were given the title 'Royal' only in 1935, the button and little banner must date from 1935 or later. No idea what CAWA stood for, though. The WA part might be 'Women's Association'.

Thanks Alex, and Arthur.
Banner and brooch may well be associated with a Women's Association.
Regards,
John

I thought Women's Assoc as well, but I can't think what the CA might be. I go to the DLI hall regularly so I'll ask the caretaker next time I am there, but that won't be until March.
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks Alex,
I have asked to join the RDLI Facebook site and hope to post images there.
Cheers, John
