Essex Yeomanry
Hello Troops
Has anyone seen a brass collar badge to the Essex Yeomanry, with a Queen Elizabeth crown, motto DECUS ET TUTAMEN. It may have been the forerunner to the A/A collars. Thanks in advance. Regards Terry |

Terry,
My notes indicated they existed with both single and double lugs, but I don't own a specimen of either to show. I am sure Expat Yeoman will be able to tell us more when he reads this thread. Stephen. |

Hi Terry, Stephen
Yes there was a GM pattern and yes predating A/A version. As Badjez says occasionally found with a single lug but based on frequency I've seen them more often with two lugs. I have them down as post WW2 to early 1960s. The AA pattern collar was sealed in 64. A surprisingly hard badge to find in either GM format. The AA badge quite common (and is still worn today). I'll take some photos of backs separately if of interest. Michael |

Many thanks Michael and Stephen.
I have a single brass collar with one lug, I kept it in the draw, as I have not seen one before. Now I know that they where made, I will have to find another one to make a pair. I am in the process of sorting out all of my cap badges, shoulder titles, buttons etc onto new cards putting them in order. Thanks again lads Regards Terry |
