None of these badges were worn by the reinforcements that they represent, and the should be considered as gap fillers made for the collectors market.

I must admit, I have my doubts on the B/3 badge as it looks cast, and the B/5 badge (not pictured) has a good frame, but the letter "B" looks nothing like the "B"s which are usually encountered with that frame.

But looks like my 1st Reinforcements badge is worth more than I paid for it

Hi Brent and Iain,
I'm amazed at the high bids for the triple fern leaf badges. This must be a reflection of the relative scarcity of these badges. A case of short supply and high demand.
Cheers, Tinto

The prices achieved on Trade Me for the Triple fern badges, number 1($,1640 NZ ),2 ($504),3 ($1760) .Also the other lower numbers did well. The B3($772) and the A4 ($1145).Perhaps the B5 at $420 wasn't such a bad buy, considering its the only one of the badges mentioned that might have been worn.

Sure they are rare ,but they were only made for a very small collector market during WW1.

What one has paid for an item doesn't always equate to what its worth.

I would have to say some record prices achieved.
I don't know who Torwood is, but good to see one Wellingtonian who is not suffering from the recession.
Kapitidave has just recently joined the Wgtn Millitaria Collectors Club, so I should be able to get a hands on with the B/3 badge.
Interesting Craig Hooper picked up the B/5 badge

As a Wellington Regiment collector, I had my eyes on the B/10, B12 and B/16 cap dadges, but only managed to win the B/12.

Interestingly, I have a document dated 14th June 1918, which lists a complete set of Reinforcement badges (1st to 34th) for the total cost of 5 pounds 5 shillings.

A weekend find .A nice sharp image of a triple fern badge worn by an unidentified soldier .It could be the same soldier in post number 5 (full portrait owned by Matt Pomeroy)

The badge has no scroll ,with NZ on either side of the fern stem
