Not a staff-sergeant badge at all [nor colour-sergeant].
Clothing regs 1904 for example: chevrons and badges worn on khaki drill and service dress will all be made of worsted lace and embroidery. Csgts will wear crowns in lieu of colour badges. |

I've always wondered why S/Sgt or C/Sgt ranks wore a metal KC crown above cloth stripes/chevrons on Battledress?
It doesn't seem to make sense to me and so I'm guessing their must be an official reason? |
