Not a staff-sergeant badge at all [nor colour-sergeant].

Clothing regs 1904 for example:

chevrons and badges worn on khaki drill and service dress will all be made of worsted lace and embroidery. Csgts will wear crowns in lieu of colour badges.

Circa 1916, Leics Yeoman with a General Service Staff Sergeant, gilding metal crown above the chevrons.

I've always wondered why S/Sgt or C/Sgt ranks wore a metal KC crown above cloth stripes/chevrons on Battledress?
It doesn't seem to make sense to me and so I'm guessing their must be an official reason?
