Default VRI badge for ID

Hi All
Can anybody ID this VRI cypher badge please? I expect it has an Indian connection, it is 45mm tall.

Morning Alex,
The badge is a shoulder strap badge for the Royal Canadian Regiment 1894 pattern.

Shoulder Strap Ornament for Rank and File: The Royal and Imperial cypher (V.R.I.) surmounted by the Imperial crown, for sergeants, water gilt, rank and file, gilding metal; dimensions from top of crest to bottom of ornament, 1 3/4 inches; horizontal width, 1 1/4 inches.

Thanks very much for the replies. Is there any value to it as I have no use for it in my collection? Would it be worth listing for sale from South Africa?
