No.1 Commando Salamander Patch
Hi all
I recently acquired this No.1 CDO patch at an estate clearance in Australia. It certainly looks to be WW2 vintage but I was hoping for some clarification from anyone who may have one or is familiar with these. Thanks in advance |

Using the Album's here, I am not a fan. (Although this is way outside of my own area of collecting). Compare it to these images:
Front https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ictureid=11099 Back https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ictureid=11100 The back of the example you have in hand looks far too like the spaghetti mess of threads that is usually associated with fakes and forgeries that come from India/Pakistan.

Salamander patch
Looks awfully like this one aged up a little.

Simply put,
That is 'not' correct, sorry to say. Cheers, Roy

The badge originally posted has all the tell-tale signs of an Asian sub-continent reproduction. Some of these look good -sometimes very good - from the front but horrible on the back.

Lack of age, lack of detail (is that a salamander looks more like a run over crocodile?) and spaghetti backing are all valuable signs of a replica.
