Default Heavy Battery Shoulder Title

Hi Guys,

Hoping someone can help with my queries on this title,

Has anyone else seen it or got one in there collection

I have checked Ray Westlakes book of metal shoulder titles, and can not see this one in there.

What i wanted to know, is it British but just not shown in there?

Is it WW1? and if so

could this possible be a title made for the South African Heavy Artillery
Siege Battery 71st to 75th Batteries attached to the RGA, as they retained there own insignia and identity Under War Office Instruction No 276

Hello Andy,

It’s British, part of a shoulder title worn by the Lowland (City of Edinburgh) RGA battery. Would have had straight pattern Lowland above it.
This was the first pattern title worn, later replaced by T RGA Edinburgh and T RGA Lowland, for ammunition column.
If it doesn’t fit with your collecting interests, it would fit an appreciative home with my hoard of Artillery shoulder titles!
Best wishes
Pat

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the response, and explanation.
What threw me probably as it is not shown in Ray Westlakes book, as i have a few titles for the SAHA like the example i have attached that is also not shown in any books, and thought possible this could have been one of them, its a shame though, as will not go with my theme, and i have sent you a PM regarding title.

Regards
Andrew

Hi Simon,

Yes, just checked and you right, i was scanning through the book and as the one shown has the lowland attached to it, so must have thrown me out, as i was just looking for a curved title, but strangely the one i have has never had anything attached to it previously,

Regards
Andrew
