Default Para Regt Sqn, SAS, Malaya

Hello and greetings from sunny Durban, SA. please would anyone know for sure what this Sqn wore in Malaya, insignia wise? cap badges? para or SAS? rank epaulettes with what colour squadron band? their awards appear in Dave Buxton's book. Dudley Coventry got a MiD. Did these paras qualify for membership of the SAS Assoc? thanks

From the Imperial War Museum site:

Description
Physical description
badge A pale blue over dark blue horzontally divided rectangle with a queen's crown in yellow and red on a white background on the upper pale blue segment, and the word COMMONWEALTH in yellow on an upward curved white tablet on the lower dark blue half.
History note
A 28th British Commonwealth Brigade served in Korea from April 1951 when 28th Infantry Brigade HQ came from Hong Kong to take over from 27th Brigade. That 28th Brigade was absorbed into 1st Commonwealth Division when it was formed in July 1951. The Brigade was disbanded in August 1954. HQ 28th British Commonwealth Brigade was reformed in Malaya in September 1955 as SEATO's strategic reserve. Cole (1949/1953) has no record of this badge so it is possible that this badge dates from this time. The Brigade was redesignated a Brigade Group in July 1962. The British elements were withdrawn from the Brigade in April 1969. It may be from this date that a second pattern of the badge was adopted, where the figure 28 takes the place of COMMONWEALTH. The British element rejoined the Brigade in October 1970 and in October 1971 it was redesignated 28th ANZUK Brigade. At that date it adopted a third pattern of badge where a scroll carrying the letters ANZUK was added below the figure 28. In January 1974 the Brigade ceased to be SEATO reserve and adopted two separate identities. One became ANZUK Force (badge a queens's crown and ANZUK FORCE in black on a scroll on a red square). The second was 28th Infantry Brigade (British). Whether this formation had a badge is not known but it was disbanded in November 1975.
