Is this an older JR Gaunt RE badge
Hi chaps
Going to sell this A/A RE badge along with some others (yes the new owner is a member of here 🙂, but wanted to ensure it wasnt too early or scarce . I seem to remember reading this type of slider is older. Thanks for any help KR Jon |

A brass or non aluminium slider is a sign of an early badge. in the early days the manufacturer's did not know how to attach an aluminium slider to an aluminium badge therefore early badges tend to have brass or other metal sliders. These were generally attached using friction pegs. Although early the RE and REME badges with metal sliders are not too unusual but definitely early rather than late.

In addition the GAUNT LONDON makers mark indicates that the badge was produced sometime in the period Late 50's to mid 60's hope this helps. Lovely badge and it also has a makers mark on the body of the badge. I have one myself. I'm sure the person who is buying it will cherish it. I got mine of evil bay at a reasonable price.

Its a nice one Jon,
The correct period size and font of the maker mark is good for reference. Paul |
