Default RAF Beards

Watching the Platinum Jubilee Pageant yesterday I noticed that quite a few of the RAF Contingent had beards.

When did the RAF start wearing them?

Facial Hair Policy

Quote:
With effect from 1 September 2019, all RAF personnel are permitted to grow a full set beard.

A request must be made to the Commanding Officer in writing prior to any member of the RAF growing a beard.

Only full beards that are kept short and neatly trimmed will be permitted.

..lot more relaxed regulations across all services now. Read a report on the BBC regarding individuals of the Rastafarian religion, regarding beards and hair. Very interesting. All these service personnel looked immaculate and proud of their service and religion.
..good to see the armed services changing in a positive way.
regards Steve

The item was very interesting. The Capt who started it was/is the Adjutant at 29 Cdo RA. He said when he joined he wasnt permitted to wear a beard or keep his dreadlocks.
