What is it ? Icelandic silver ?

Hey

So I'm trying to find out what this is its facing left and I've found out some eagles faced left like arm badges and side caps. The back has 828 on it and I think this is Iceland and there was an RAF base in Iceland in ww2 ?

Any thoughts welcome

I think it is just a silver brooch of a bird. No military connection and looking at it not much age either I think.

I think the 828 will be a makers pattern number rather than relevant to the end usage of the item,

It's possible it was worn as such, but the bird is very un-RAF like, so I doubt it was intended as an Air Force related sweetheart badge, and as mentioned, to me anyway i dont think it has great age.

Hi

I think that "828" could be some indication of the silver content. Sterling is .925 and I seem to recall that .800 is found on some German items.

The small circular mark to the right of the 828 stamp will be the maker I would think.

Casting my mind back there was a stamp found on some pieces that said "Mexican Silver" which was mainly nickel silver.

Some vintage/antique European silver used to have 828 on it to indicate 'full fineness' :

Silver: full fineness 828, but at least 813: 813 mark
