Kings Regiment.
Sometime ago I posted a badge that I hoped was a Vic/ Edward example of the King's Regt.Luke kindly confirmed and KLR informed me it was a Firmin die. I went back to the antique centre today and there was another Vic example there. When I got it home I compared it to the other and noticed it was from a different die. This prompted me to dig out my other early type Kings cap badges and they are all different. I just wondered how many dies there could be for this badge and is it feasible to try to collect them all?

Four badges are cap badges for the 'King's Regiment'
The top left badge is made by Firmin. The top right badge is what I have numbered Die 13 (not certain of the maker but similar to Firmin - cf basal ridge) The phototgraph on the right shows...top Die [13] badge but not certain of maker lowrer the lower badge looks like a Firmin derivative... They were authorised on 7th December 1896 - and were made obsolent on 26th Sep 1926. It was defined as War Office Pattern 4362/1895. There were thousands made - I have counted 21 dies alone. The lower badge is a 1926 officer's King's collar badge Last edited by KLR; 20-07-22 at 10:45 AM. Reason: repetition |
