Default BRITISH INDIAN OCEAN TERRITORY

Brought at Chatham today-10/07/22.
A BRITISH INDIAN OCEAN TERRITORY new metal cap badge with maker mark TKS on the slider. I have hunted for one of these for some time and was offered it today.
I believe it is worn by BIOT police on Diego Garcia who are either Royal Navy and/or Royal Marines personal.

It was worn many years ago by several uniformed organisations on the BIOT, including the police. However, the police have used a QC star patterned enamel cap badge for at least the last 20 odd years and the Customs have similarly re badged themselves. I have an example of the BIOT Police cap badge which I'll photograph for you. Photo attached. This is actually a warrant badge (easier to photo) the cap badge is identical.

Dave.

Very nice Jerry, well done. I wrote to them many years ago, but although they couldn't spare me a badge I got a nice letter back which I still have.

Default British Indian Ocean Territory

These days members of the Royal Military Police (RMP) and the RAF Police can also opt to serve in BIOT alongside their colleagues from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

I attach a selection of photographs that may be of interest.

Pete

Thanks for the photo's giving some insight to the officers serving there.
