Wouldn’t mind seeing the photo dumdum, this shows a couple of RND men wearing a title in the cap, one is Nelson the other RND,

Hi JT

Yes, very easy. He was 10/1810 Arthur Samuel FIRMIN. I'll post his pic wearing the small straight "NZR" title at some point.

Many good memories of hearing his stories, some of which must have been true!

Hi

Here it is. The "cap badge" is actually a small NZR shoulder title! Oddly enough the "wounding" was some cretin discharging a rifle in camp. Arthur was badly wounded in the femur and had to have his leg immobilised for the rest of his life.

He was evacuated off Gallipoli with dysentery.

Cracking photograph. The centrally seated veteran sergeant major looks quite a character. I wonder how many of them survived the war.
