I am attaching some photos and other bits from the Kingsman magazine articles on 5th Kings/2 T Force OCA, I hope they are legible.
It is interesting that the sign shown by Paul which is on display on the battledress in the Liverpool Museum is a white "T" on a black square or oblong, whilst the representations of what I presume is meant to be their sign, is a white "T" on a black shield . P.B.

Thanks Paul,
I wonder if any of the cloth experts can tell us what the "144" sign signifies, I have not come across it before. Peter

The 144 on the shield is not a cloth badge but a vehicle marking. All British military vehicles carried one on the opposite side of the vehicle to their formation sign, in this case that of 30 Corps. The background colour varied according to the arm of service black in this case indicating Corps HQ. The number indicated the actual unit and was a simple and secure way of identifying unit transport at a glance. A sample from the Guards Armoured Division shows both sign and number on a vehicle.
There are two books on this British Military Markings by Peter Hodges and a revised version by Hodges and Michael D Taylor but a quick look does not identify the unit which carried 144 but as the books explain there were many variations on the system. Perhaps a vehicle signs expert can help further? Jon |

That's not me then. I can't even remember the signage from our own vehicles. apart from the name of an Irish town on either side.
