Success. I typed 'Royal Fusilier shoulder titles' into Google and after a bit of scratching around I came up with a 2008 post on the Great War Forum, extract of which is below:

1st Bn London Regt (RF): Red letters on white - 1st LONDON RF (arc shape);
1st Reserve Bn London Regt: White letters on khaki - 1st (RES) LONDON/ RF (in a T shape);
2nd Bn London Regt (RF) - A: Red letters on dark blue - 2nd LONDON REGT(no idea as to shape);
2nd Bn London Regt (RF) - B: Red letters on dark blue - 2nd LONDON REGT/RF (T shape);
3rd Bn London Regt (RF) - A: Red letters on khaki - 3rd LONDON (arc);
3rd Bn London Regt (RF) - B: Red letters on khaki - 3rd LONDON/RF (T shape);
3rd Reserve Bn London Regt - A: White letters on red - 3rd (RES) LONDON (arc).
3rd Reserve Bn London Regt - B: Red letters on khaki - 3rd (RES) LONDON (arc).

This is largely from Waring's Identification Pamphlet No. 2, which is not complete so there may be other variations.

Regards,

John

Well done John,looks like 2nd London Regt then, which would seem to fit with the location too.

I have come in a bit late to this post, but to me the cap badge looks nothing like HAC.
It's more Royal Fusiliers with ACF shoulder title. The lower arm rifle badge with star represents: First Class Marksman.
Active RF ACF during latter 1940's would have been the Hounslow unit or the Stock Exchange Company, which I doubt, as they were quite smart.
This lot looks like rag, tag & bobtail! HAC? I doubt!

Re my above post
Some are saying this is 'The London regiment', a TA unit?
The TA at that time were carried the SMLE No. 4 rifle.
The ACF at that time carried the SMLE Mk III.

Peter, we had already reached the 'conclusion' (after some to-ing and fro-ing) that these are ACF lads from the RF, so not quite sure if you had read the thread through?

Default Royal Fusiliers Cadets 1948

Just found this second picture in "The Territorial Battalions" by Ray Weslake. The caption is "Party of Cadets affiliated to the 9th Battalion Royal Fusiliers c1948".

It it possible that these are the same lads?

Remarkable! Almost certainly one and the same unit I think. There's something about the way they wear their caps that indicates one senior rank checking that they were properly dressed for the occasion.

I used the image of Lt Tom King Som LI (TA) to introduce a brief I gave him in 1990 as HSI Hong Kong. He was surprised. CBF was very amused.

After ww2, was the tradition of Summer camps re-instated, either for T.A. or cadets.? Pre war, I think the HAC went to Walton on the Naze.
