Essex Regiment ( TANK)
Hello . Here is an Essex Regiment ( Tank ) cap badge .
White metal appears to be discolouerd on the obverse but nice on the reverse . This badge possibly wouldn't be one of those which were buried in dry cement , then dug up and cleaned with some chemical causing a discolouration ? We read that this happened some time ago and we're not expert badge collectors so have no way of verifying as to the validity of this . Thank You . |

Hi Cam . Yes, that was what we would like to find out if possible .
Is this badge authentic ? |

Experimenting with various lighting I can never seem to get the true
appearance of a badge so the obverse does seem a little different in my photos as to what this badge actually looks like in real time . Sorry , I should have included this in my previous post . |

Yours looks different than the one I have. Mine has a makers mark above the left lug (Birks) I attached photos.

As a side, may I ask if they wore he MacGregor tartan behind this badge as both the Essex Highlanders and Essex and Kent Highlanders did?
Thanks, Terry |

Hi Terry,
I have never seen any evidence of the Essex Tank wearing the tartan behind their badge. As an armoured regiment they wore white metal badges and the black beret.
