Default 'COMMANDO' ?

Hi Chaps,

I was looking through my old pieces of Commando insignia that I had relegated to post war or repro and I took a second look at this black/white title and thought it may be original.

It is a little thin/fragile/moth damage (?)/my have been worn.

Can I have a second/third opinion?

Full disclosure, if correct I will offer it up for trade.

Cheerio,
Roy

Hi Roy,
I may be wrong but I don't like the horizontal embroidery. Not a title I would add to my commando section.
Is the thread synthetic ?
Regards

Hello Roy
It looks a little 'bright' to me. The backing looks like it would 'flare' under UV light. It resembles a set of reproductions including Nos. 2, 3 and 4 Commandos among others. Difficult to be definitive from the images though. Personally, not struck with that type of bright loose gauze backing.

The white, loose weave backing is common on Patch King reproductions, seen on many, many Air Force nationality titles and Canadian aircrew wings.
