The Devil 'Really' Is In The Detail
Hi Gents,
Earlier I posted my spare Royal Lincolnshire Militia button for trade (which I have now withdrawn). When photographing it and on closer inspection I noted that both buttons seemed identical and clearly by the same maker. However the backmarks are slightly different, so now of course I 'have' to hang on to both. This button collecting just never gets boring... Anyway I thought I would share this little (Anorak) discovery. If you look closely there is a slight difference in some of the lettering font and also one button has a + between words where the other doesn't. So clearly 'I McGown' used two different back mark stamps on this size of button. A reminder to look closer.. Cheerio, Roy
