Default Unusual RAF a/a

Picked this up this morning, an a/a RAF cap badge, makers marked Firmin but with no means of fixing to the cap!
Anyone any ideas?
Cheers Tony.

Hi Tony

If it is smaller than the standard size RAF cap/beret badge it would have been worn by WRAFs on the 'hostess' cap. And no, I don't know how they fixed them on, probably sewn on is my best guess.

Graham/Paddy,
thanks for responses, it is a standard size cap badge.
What a pain having to sew the badge on!
Cheers Tony.

Hi guys, Tonyb, The smaller anodised badge was for the 'pork pie/hostess' womens hat and the other was for the hat that replaced it and is in current use. Both came pre-sewn to the hat or band in the case of the larger one, which wasn't in use for too long as it was replaced by the 'wire look' badge, currently in use.
Regards, Craig
