Victorian Sgts Marksman Volunteer Artillery Badge?

I picked this up recently, it was labelled as a ‘1882-1908 Sgts Marksman Volunteer Artillery Sleeve Badge’. It looks like a Lee Metford or Enfield to me….can someone enlighten me please?

Much the same as one I have, be interesting to see what it is, I just have it as late Victorian marksman's badge, I have seen them with a crown above, or at least something very similar.

I notice yours is on blue on red whereas mine is straight on the red, so not the same then

The badge with these style of rifles was adopted in 1898 and if its silver bullion would have been for the Volunteer Force that ceased to exist in 1908, so the end date is correct, but the start date isnt.

The backing colour of blue is correct for Artillery and the use of an additional red edging is typical of the Artillery arm badges as well.
So all in all I would agree with the label more or less.

Some Marksman's badges that are framed and sealed, the man who was awarded these served in the 3rd Middlesex Volunteer Artillery and later transferred to the 21st Middlesex Rifle Volunteers.

The badge with the KC above is a later version.
