Default Cap badge ID?

I hope someone can ID the cap badge in the attached picture. I'm doing another family military history doc, this time on a 1st cousin once removed (my grandmother's brother's son). William Albert Foord (service number SD/178) 'A' Company, 11th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. Died of wounds 25/06/16. The picture was provided by William's nephew who confirms it is a picture of William. The cap badge doesn't seem to quite match as the scroll along the bottom seems too short, and the plume appears to be missing? Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

I think the image is blurred and can make out the Sussex badge. It looks wider than it should be because of the bluring.

Thanks Alan. I was 75% sure it was the correct badge, but the parts I mentioned put some doubt in my mind. I will see if I can get hold of the original photo.

If I didnt know what the badge is suspected to be, I may have suggested Notts & Derby . . . but I understand that it doesnt fit the known information.

Both brothers joined the Royal Sussex, so there are no links outside the county. But like I say, if I can get the original photo I can scan it myself and get a definite ID, but thanks for the input.

Default Better image

Having obtained a better image, the cap badge appears to be surmounted by a crown, and is all white metal. The lower part of the scroll appears to be a flattened V shape. Again, any thoughts appreciated.

Possibly Ernest Foord, previously served with the Royal Sussex Regiment. Ernest Foord has two sets of enlistment papers. The second, East Surrey Regt set is only partially filled in.

Brilliant! I'll search the family tree for Ernest, but that looks spot-on, very many thanks!
