Spitfire Lamp, ashtray?

Hi have been asked if I can get any information on this Spitfire Lamp (ashtray ?), it was from a lad at works Grandfather who has passed away, so he is seeking Information on it and what is this items worth? He has had it on Ebay, but the price he put on it was rather high in my opinion but he could be right and me wrong if you come up with a figure ?
Have not seen this apart from photos maybe someone here has seen one before? Many thanks in advance billy
