OK fine but......how a depot battalion soldier/private ended in France ????? Were they not the cadre to a recruiting unit/battalion and stayed in Canada ?????

Hello Jo. The Depot Battalions were recruiting and training establishments. The personnel went through some training and then were shipped to the UK, and on to France as reinforcements. They were issued the shoulder titles in Canada, and subsequently rebadged when taken on strength of other units.
