Not, I'm afraid, Indian Army. "DE" and "?SO", so ?? and "The ? of S's Own". I know that's not much help , but maybe the real experts can chip in. |

Had already ruled out the Indian Army Peter. I'm hoping someone might know?
I have a few shoulder titles that also need to be identified: C.G.B B.D.H B.T.T.C I.N.R S.S.M&S.R V.R.P. Again, not Indian Army. Any help would be appreciated. |

I wouldn't necessarily cut "India" out altogether, these may not be "Indian Army" badges as such but could also be badges worn by Indian Railway employees etc. It was a huge organisation in its own right.

David,
You are quite right and I had initially thought they could be AFI as well but so far I haven't been able to successfully identify them. INR and SSM&SR may well be Railway Shoulder Titles. |

Was there ever an "India/Indian National Railway"...? e.g. INR (I know the "R" could be rifles of course, but you never know.
You would have a very, very interesting time trying to bottom out all the various railway districts that would have existed - Hyderabad as a district rings a bell with me.... There must be hundreds of others. I have no idea whether there would be something so simple as a list..... That's what the internet is for... Good luck |

Many thanks everyone! I really appreciate all the help.
I will assume SSM&SR is Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury Regiment, CFA. I am attaching an image of the shoulder titles. |

Thanks Mike! That is quite a comprehensive list.
It helps rule out the possibility of an 'Indian National Railway'. |

Title ID`s......
Risaldar:
SSM & SR stands for Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury Regt, which was a Canadian Army unit that existed in WWII. It did not get overseas, though. Cheers, John S. |
