Default 99th Duke of Edinburgh’s (Lanarkshire) Regt of Foot collars

I was fortunate enough to find these two pairs at Birmingham (motorcycle museum) Fair yesterday
However,
In brief Churchill shows a line drawing (proposal) of the 99 Coronet/Cyphered badge stating that in Feb 1875 permission was denied for the wearing of collars by the Regt. (They did in fact wear crowns as collars previously)
He goes on to say that the Cyphered/Coronet collar badge was sealed in 1877
Failing to find an image of an Officer wearing the 99th pair can anyone shed any light on them
Paul

The Wardrobe does show a single 99 Coronet/Cypher sat with a single a 1877 pattern Crown and cypher in the additional image to their glengarry badge but without any details

Paul can't help. with the 99th collars. ,but very envious nice find. Only have a single of your top pair
If I remember correctly a full officers uniform including blue cloth and station masters hat with bullion badge from a Scottish estate was sold via Christies 15-20 years ago . Not sure what collars where on it Dixon purchased the lot and it went over the water Away at present so no access to my notes. A lot of the information and badges [Wiltshire ] in Churchill was from my collection

Thank You for replying David, I was going to message you about these but haven’t figured out how to attach images on forum messaging
Glad to hear there is a possibility Dixon had a tunic with these collars.
It may be me but Churchills explanation doesn’t mention these as worn, only the brass Coronet/Cypher type, I’m sure Officers wouldn’t have worn the same as the Other Ranks
If you can remember the auction date I may be able to find description through the results
Best wishes
Paul

Lovely pairs of collars Paul. A truly splendid find. I have only seen the crowns depicted in classic depictions of the glengarry and collar badges 1874-81.

Cheers Dean

Think you may have nailed it there by showing them David, fixings are missing on the 99/coronet/cypher pair of badges I have, I now suspect they are two Officers HP central devices to the 99th similar as on your HP
Churchill’s notes did distract
No too disappointed as they do look good on what is my smallest Scottish collection
Thanks
Paul

Outstanding find Paul. I am quite green with envy. Any chance of leaving them to me in your will?
