Halifax Rifles qc brass
Verification needed. The Halifax Rifles early brass qc badge (not the new issue) was a cadet corps badge? The correct badge for the Halifax Rifles reserve army, was the white metal example?

Halifax Rifles QC brass hat badge.....
Bill:
In answer to your question, I feel that the brass QC Halifax Rifles hat badge has nothing to do with the Halifax Rifles cadet corps. It does not seem logical that the cadet corps would have adopted a brass hat badge, where the Regt would have worn a W/M badge, before the Regt. went into oblivion in 1965. If anything, the cadet corps would have used the W/M issue until the die struck issues would have been used up post 1965, then would have gone out to contract non die struck W/M issues for future use. I`m sure that the cadet corps would have wanted to continue wearing the same coloured insignia post 1965, so to speak to keep the old badge visable in the local Halifax area. If anything, I would hazard the guess that the brass issue was made in error, and that only a limited number would have been manufactured after this error was identified. Just my 2 cents here.... Thanks John. CCW is often a pile of bs. It makes no sense for a brass Hal Rif badge to have been struck, either for the reserve regiment or the cadets. I wonder if it was simply struck to fill the collectors demand?

Halifax Rifles QC brass hat badge......
Bill:
From the look of the badge, I would say that the brass issues are exactly the same as the W/M issues, with only the colour being different. As such, I would suggest that these were made back in the day when the Regt was still active, IE: pre 1965. If this were the case, I would think that the regular W/M issues would have been available to collectors, and the demand for the Halifax Rifles QC badge would have been considerably less than what it is, and has been over the last 40 years or so, when the Regt went to nil strength, and the supply of regular badges dried up. I still think that the brass issue of the badge may well have been made in error. Cheers, John S. |

Here in Arizona (and the most of the US) CCW is your permit to carry a handgun (Concealed Carry Weapon).
