Default 3rd Dragoon Guards

I have acquired a cap badge of the 3rd Dragoon Guards, but it is not totally voided out around the scrolls. I have never seen one like it before nor can I find a picture on the internet like it. The wear on the front is consistent with wear from polishing and it appears well aged.
Any opinions on this badge please?
Cheers
Tom

Looks like a ‘dumpy’ feathered fake to me. That wear is not from polishing but rather something much more abrasive and flat like an emery board - this is a trick fakers often use. Polishing produces a much more rounded effect. Also if it was polished no doubt the whole badge would be polished rather than just the high points, the 3rd DG scroll hasn’t been touched.
