59 Bn (The Hume Regiment) cap badge
Mick,
Picked this up in the UK today (£2). It appears to be anodised aluminium. Can you please tell me anything about its use? Thanks, Stephen. |

It's a post 1953 59th Battalion (Hume Regiment) hat badge. I would expect it to be a brass badge with lugs rather than a anodised aluminum badge.
I found some info about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/59th_Battalion_%28Australia%29 Mick

59 Bn (The Hume Regt) hat badge
Mick,
Thanks. Would I be correct in thinking the QC version of this badge was only worn from @1953 until @1960, when absorbed into the Victoria Regt? If this is so this badge must be an early example of an Australian anodised badge. Do you know where I can find more specific information upon the materials used to produced this battalion's badges please? Regards, Stephen. |

It could be that it was made just prior to becoming part of the RVR. Most anodised badges came into being for the first time in the 1960s and sometimes in the 1970s.
In relation to finding information about materials used for this badge, possibly somewhere deep in army archives? It's information that is not easy to find. Mick
