Question Opinions appreciated, Hunts and Dorset’s

Hello, I bought these two badges a couple of days ago. The dealer accepts returns. I feel the Dorsetshire TF is spurious and will take it back. However the Huntingdonshire cyclist is more difficult. It is well made, has crimped slider mounted behind the stags head. However the back is quite smooth with little detail and it has been bronzed at some point and has some of the qualities of an OSD type badge? I would appreciate any opinions.

The Hunts Cyclists is a repro.

That the 4th Dorsets has a reverse impression of Marabout is not a good start. I would like to see a picture of the front too. Suffice to say what I can see it would be going back also.

I have images and will shortly be the owner of a 4th Dorsets badge Keith Hook obtained in 1951 from the old HQ in Poundbury Lane, Dorchester. I’m told they had a sack full of cap badges and shoulder titles.

I will go farther - the Dorsets is a repro. the lugs are not right for that badge.

I’ve just checked my references and the reverse of the Dorsets is a known fake.

Send them both back.

Who was this dealer?

Thank you for your replies, I’m not sure of the dealers name as I’m currently on holiday in the West Country. He does offer a five day money back guarantee.

Got my money back with no Quibble. Then found a nice Vic Suffolk Regiment and Yorkshire Regiment OSD badge.
