Loval Scouts - Badge Backing Tartan
I'm no expert but am quoting from the book "Badge Backings & Special Embelishments of the British Army - Page 280.
".......these Lovat Scouts [2 platoons as part of 2nd Battalion 51st Highland Volunteers] still wear the diced Atholl bonnet of the Lovat Scouts when wearing No. 2 dress. Otherwise they were the same cap badge but with a 3" square Fraser Tartan backing, with the white line going east to west." ..."With the Bonnet TOS [Tam 'o' Shanter?] a 3" square black patch is worn." Hope this is of some use?

Thanks DB, That seems close to what I found on line, as what I found said the Hunting Fraser, and your reference just sys Fraser. I wonder if both are correct and maybe there was a change?
Again, my sincere thanks, Terry |
