Default 15th north auckland regiment

Hello! Can you tell me something about this company? I only know that was formed in 1911 and was part of the Auckland battalion...I can't find more info about the history of that company...Thank you!

Yes ..that is the info I already know...but I don't know the history of the 15th company...they servebd only in WWI or in WWII too? Are they still in service...or merged to other regĂments?

In mu opinion this is the badge of the 15th (North Auckland) Regiment.
Never hear of the company you mention in the thread title.

A table that shows the lineage is here: https://hcvv.home.xs4all.nl/milweb/N...ZIR-B3-B6.html

I am not sure what toy mean with "serving in WW1", but apart from home defence, it did not. It was however, with the other four regiments on that page, important in raising The Auckland Infantry Regiment of the NZEF (and that is the unit where the link in post #2 above points to).

In WW2, again home defence until the Japanese invasion thread was gone, after which all battalions were disbanded to free people for either the 2nd NZEF or civilian jobs.

I will bow to those who know much more about the New Zealand military then I do.

But your first post mentioned a raising year of 1911. And that can only be about the territorial regiment. The company was an "offspring", only raised in 1914 (and more of them later) and took the badges of the territorial regiment.

Hi,

I think the confusion between "Company" and "Regiment" is because the 15th North Auckland Regiment was a company in the Auckland Battalion during WW1.
From the Auckland Regiment NZEF history by O. E. Burton:
"In the Auckland District there were in existence four Infantry Regiments: the 3rd (Auckland), 6th (Hauraki), 15th (North Auckland) and 16th (Waikato). Each of these Regiments provided a Company.....".

So the company that fought in WWI came from the territorial regiment that serves as home defence...is that right?

I guess that not a specific Company was moved, but that people from all over the territorial regiment formed the Company of the NZEF regiment. Also that volunteers from the region that never served in the territorial regiment, enlisted in the company in the NZEF regiment. There was a strong bond, but they were separate.

That is correct, although by this time the prospect of war overseas was there.
Cheers, John
