Default Royal Engineers Badge - information please.

Yesterday for the first time in a long long time I managed to acquire a couple of items from the local car boot sale.

One of the items is this GVI Royal Engineers cap badge. Its a very well struck badge but when compared to a couple of others I have some differences emerge.
1.The Royal Engineers title is in a very small script.
2.The royal cypher is set below the level of the garter strap.
3.The cypher itself is not voided down through the junction of the G and R.
4.A very tapered slider.
5.The slider is of the hairpin variety although the turned over section is quite short.

I attach a few pictures to demonstrate the above.

The question is are these just manufacturers variations and is it possible to identify which manufacturer?

Eric
