Default SN OR NS ?

I have what might be a Slouch hat badge (thick brass)
or is it a shoulder title.
Not sure which way up it goes or which regiment.
Any help would be appreciated

Question NS or SN

Malc,
I am never quite sure of this item, I had a few similar which I thought were slouch hat badges from the Boer War era made from thick brass as is your badge, but I have been told that the slouch hat badges from that time were made of thinner brass.

My badge I have down as North Somerset although I could be proved wrong as South Notts fits as well.

I dont know what it is but NS looks right, rather than SN which to my eye looks wrong.
