Again lovely examples, I've seen odd examples of the "painted" badge being offered at various prices. in the past, some for very little, but, the majority for a kings ransom!

At one point painted ones flooded the market as some complete sheets of 50 odd uncut painted daggers were auctioned and presumably cut to be sold separately. Inflation... Cheers JB |

Well I've certainly been reluctant to buy one at the prices often being sought, I suppose because I had always suspected something like that had happened, they tend to look unworn.

This is an example that I've had for forty years or so, I have never thought of it as anything other than a period and contemporary badge, manufactured in the same way as the ones that were worn and do appear in photographs, other than being embroidered on to khaki.

Frank - Thanks for sharing - I agree re manufacture. I have a couple of similar examples - all unworn condition.

Thanks Mike, it is just a great shame that there appears no information about them, I often wonder which manufacturer actually made them, you encounter original Glider badges embroidered onto the same khaki.
