Very interesting, and ACF on shoulder will indeed stand out.
Rank Slides with CADET also makes sense if space for badges is limited. In fact I have just found a copy of the Regs: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hbvkwrj9ln...20Oct%2012.pdf Last edited by Mike_2817; 27-12-12 at 10:41 AM. |

Indeed, I am looking for a few Dark Blue on Scarlet titles for the RLC ACF!
I have an example of 'SHROPSHIRE ACF' Blue on Scarlet with Blue Border. |

Quote:
When the unit became an independant company of the ACF in early 1948 these were changed to a white on red 'Middlesex' above a white on red 'ACF'. In December the same year this was changed again when the unit became CCF, the insignia then being the same 'Middlesex' white on red above a white on red 'CCF' with a slider 'Harrow' above 'County School' pale blue on bottle green. That combination lasted only six months or so before in mid 1949 a new shoulder title, replacing all others was worn, pale blue on dark green with 'Harrow County School' above 'Contingent CCF'. From 1952 this changed to pale blue on maroon 'H.C.S.' and then in 1958 (with an attachment to 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry) a yellow on green 'Harrow County School' titles for cadets and NCOs, and the regimental 'Sharpshooters' in yellow on green for officers and Warrant Officers, with all wearing the Regimental slider. By the early 1980s the unit was attached to 1 Company, 10 Para. At the time the RAF section were still wearing the blue on maroon 'HCS' titles even thought the school had changed its name to Gayton High School five years before. But in 1983 new titles were made in an awful light green (almost flourescent) on dark green 'Gayton H. S.' above 'C.C.F.' Regulations dictated they should have been pale blue on maroon because of the Regimental connection (which would have also suited the RAF section, as they are two of the three RAF colours). It was at the whim of the rather inadequate CO of the time. Currently they are attached as a seperate company of the Harrow School Rifles a mile away, and consequently wear their insignia. |

Great information,
What a lot of insignia to try and collect to just one unit. Sadly a lot of information on insignia worn by Cadets does not appear to have been recorded,at least in places were it is readily available. I recently obtained a "The Kings Regiment" white on red embroidered title with a white on red embroidered "ACF" attached to the bottom. I had not seen an example even in a picture before. P.B.

I'm lucky, aside from being a former member, I'm also archivist to the school so have been given examples of all the insignia, and more. There are some real beauties.
