Default RAN badge

Is this really an RAN badge & if so where would it have been worn & during what time period ?

& I guess I should ask - is it good? I dont have an example & would like to obtain a good one.

Thanks, RCN Bryan

i believe this is the pouch badge of the RAN bandsman in which the sheet music would have been carried. from memory this was used from about 1913-1953.

Hadn't thought of a pouch badge but at 78mm high and probably about the same in width) it would have been a rather large hat badge, as advertised.

often sold as band white cloth helmet plates, but these were pouch badges.
