Ww1 medals
I have just obtained a pair of WW1 medals with the number S-21345 , John Clapperton Cameron Highlanders . Can anyone tell me what the S stands for at the begining of his Army number . Also has ayone any idea how I would go about looking this persons up ?

Hello Spencer,
Your best bet is to try the British Medal Forum. Im sorry I cannot help with the meaning of the regimental number. The S could be a 5 for the 5th Batt Camerons? In Highland regiments an S prefix denotes a wartime enlistment.
